Appointment of Trustee for Area 1

At its regular meeting of May 28, 2024, the Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Education acknowledged the retirement of Trustee Area 1 board member Jesus M. Holguin effective June 28, 2024, and voted at its regular meeting of June 25, 2024, to fill the vacancy by Provisional Appointment.
On August 19, 2024, the Board of Education held a Special Meeting and voted 3-1 to appoint Sammie A. Luna to fill the vacancy provisionally. Sammie A. Luna will be sworn in on August 27, 2024, at its regular meeting of the Board of Education, making the effective date of the provisional appointment August 19, 2024.
Pursuant to Education Code 5091, unless a petition of the voters calling for a special election is filed in the office of the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools by September 18, 2024 (within 30 days of the provisional appointment), the appointment of Sammie A. Luna will become an effective appointment, which will last until the second Friday of December 2026.
