Risk Management/Benefits

Department Overview

The Risk Management Department focuses on employee well-being and a safe learning environment for students.

Our robust wellness programs for employees consist of providing robust medical, dental and vision benefits. We also provide resources for weight loss such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and Retrofit. We also offer mental health resources such as, Vida Health, Maven (Pregnancy and Postpartum Support), and Calm with Kaiser. We coordinate wellness clinics, health fairs, and flu-shot clinics. We also offer an Employee Assistance program that is available to ALL of our employees, and family household members regardless of their benefit eligibility.
MVUSD has a self-insured workers compensation program with an early return to work program that strives to keep injured employees working in a temporarily modified capacity while medical treatment continues. Employee safety is a top priority that includes safety plans and procedures for hazard assessments, ergonomic evaluations, site inspections, and staff trainings.

We have a pro-active property and liability program designed to protect the District from third party claims. We respond to subpoenas, student incidents, property and liability claims. We serve as a liaison between parents, students, and staff to promote a safe learning environment. Reviews and updates COVID-19 protocols and guidelines in accordance with the County and State Health departments. Collaborate with our school sites and offer safe practices for activities and/or events as well as certificates of insurance to mitigate losses.
