The Mission of the Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) is to ensure all students graduate high school prepared to successfully enter into higher education and/or pursue a viable career path.
The SELPA works to ensure that all individuals with exceptional needs from birth through age 21 are correctly identified, assessed, and provided a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) with programs and services designed to meet their unique needs in the least restrictive environment (LRE).
Special Education is instruction designed to meet the unique learning needs of individual students with disabilities from 3 to 21 years of age. It is defined by California Education Code Section 56031, as specially designated instruction at no cost to the parents to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. Special education services may be provided in a variety of educational settings, but are required by the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA) to be delivered in the least restrictive environment (LRE).
