Early Childhood Learning
The Early Childhood Learning Programs commonly known as the Head Start and State Preschool Programs are funded by federal and state funds. These programs serve children from low-income families. Students are given an opportunity to acquire social and academic readiness skills for successful transition into kindergarten. They participate in curriculum activities designed to promote the development of early literacy, numeracy, social and physical skills. Parents are encouraged to participate in training sessions and to be involved with their children in a variety of educational experiences.
Families must qualify based on income as defined by federal and state guidelines, and students must be 3 or 4 years old. Students attend either part-day (3- 3.5 hours) or full-day (6.5 hours) classes. There is no charge for enrolled families.
