Intra-District Transfers (within MVUSD)
The Moreno Valley Unified School District is accepting Inter and Intra District Transfer for NEW Students only for the 2020-2021 School Year.
Students that are NOT currently enrolled in a Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) are welcome to enroll into our district using the New Student Registration button located on the home page at www.mvusd.net.
Parents can submit an Inter or Intra District Transfer request form at the Welcome and Registration Center located at 23301 Dracaea Ave. from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students that live outside of our District’s attendance boundaries and are requesting attendance in our schools, must obtain a release from their district of residence.
Please note that Inter and Intra District Transfers are granted to the school of choice based on space availability. MVUSD will do our best to accommodate each request.
Intra District Transfers are for students assigned to the Moreno Valley Unified School District by boundary location. You may submit an Intra District Transfer to have your student attend a school that they are not assigned to according to your address. Click here to obtain an Intra District Transfer.
Inter District Transfers are for students that are NOT assigned to the Moreno Valley Unified School District by boundary location. Parents/Guardians must obtain an approved Inter District Transfer for your district of residency. Please submit the Inter District Transfer to the Welcome and Registration Center located at 23301 Dracaea Ave., Moreno Valley.
The Transfer Extension for NEW students will end June 26, 2020.
The Intra-District transfer procedure is the method in which a student can request to attend a school outside his/her school of residence attendance boundary. Intra-District transfers are available only to students who reside in Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD).
Please note: Open Enrollment Requests for Intra-District transfer for the 2020-2021 school year begins Monday, January 13, 2020 and closes Friday, March 13, 2020. All transfer applications submitted after this deadline will be reviewed and accommodated on a space-available basis and may not be reviewed until after the first day of school.
Please Note: The school you have requested may be at or near their enrollment capacity. Your request for an Intra-District Transfer maybe declined due to lack of available space.
Per the 1994 Parental Choice Law, Intra-District transfer approvals are based on the number of requests received versus the number of spaces available. If more Intra-District transfers are received than there are spaces available, the seats will be filled using a random unbiased drawing method.
Parents of new kindergartners may file an Intra-District transfer prior to the registration of their child.
A decision on a transfer request may mean approval, denial or placement on a waiting list. Waiting lists are valid for the current school year only and will be reviewed by trimester at the elementary level, and by semester for middle and high schools. Students should continue at their current school of attendance until notification of an approved transfer is received.
Application for an Intra-District transfer does not register a child in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. Registration is a separate function meeting the requirements outlined in Student Enrollment Procedures.
Inter-District Transfers (outside MVUSD)
The inter-district transfer procedure is the method in which a student can request to attend a school outside his/her resident school district. Requests for Inter-District transfers are initiated in the district in which the student resides. Applications are available at the Welcome and Registration Center for students applying for transfer out of the Moreno Valley USD and can also be found below. These requests are not renewable. A new request must be initiated and filed each year and should be filed during the open enrollment period.
