Superintendent's Message

Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora

Welcome to the Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD), where our students are college and career bound. As the superintendent of our great district, I am proud of each and every student, staff member and parent of our community. We have all worked together to enjoy incredible success since I joined the team in 2010.

From our spectacular 21% growth in graduation rate the past six years, the greatest increase in Riverside County, to the record amount of scholarships offered to our graduates ($63 million in 2017), and the addition of high-profile academic programs, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the AP Capstone Diploma programs, our district has created an upward spiral of success.

With our Board of Education, we developed a motto and a practice of “Excellence on Purpose” and produced results, which quickly became contagious. Moreno Valley Unified School District’s students are now being recruited by top universities and offered generous scholarships. This is due to our focus on individual students and their unique needs. Teams of principals, teachers, classified staff, counselors and parents reach out to help students in need. We believe each child is worth all of our efforts.
To support improved student achievement, our district has embarked on a massive school modernization program with overwhelming voter support for the Measure M construction bond in 2014. Projects share the goal of bringing equity of excellence to all schools. All of our students deserve the same reward of opportunity and service.

There are many reasons why MVUSD is shining brighter now more than ever before; the re-designation of Landmark Middle School as a Schools to Watch joins Vista Heights Middle School and Sunnymead Middle School with this distinction. Additionally, Vista Heights Middle School was 8th in the nation at the History Day competition. Continuing our “Excellence on Purpose” and shining brighter next year, Canyon Springs High School and Vista Heights Middle School will usher in a new International Baccalaureate program. Another spectacular year in improving the graduation rate, higher than the state and national average, and preparing students for college and career opportunities. The only way we can do this is with a supportive team of teachers, classified staff, counselors, administration and the Board of Education.

I encourage you to take a journey through the MVUSD website and discover the abundance of amazing programs and services we offer our students. I know you will see that we are providing one of the best learning environments in the state and in the nation. At Moreno Valley Unified School District, we are committed to “Excellence on Purpose” and together we “Shine Brighter”, striving to make the difference in the lives of every student in our district.
