A Back-to-School Message from Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora

Dear Moreno Valley Unified School District Families,

On behalf of all of the Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Education and all of the District’s teachers, classified staff and administration, I want to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year!

I hope your children are refreshed and ready to learn in this new school year. We are excited to welcome our new and returning students to “Our Greatest Year!”

I am so proud of what we have accomplished together with our families and staff last year and I cannot wait to see our student achievement soar as we build on last year’s momentum. We remain focused on supporting individual students and each of their needs to provide the very best education to every child in our district.

I am so proud to lead this District and actively promote our successes. I want to share a few recent accomplishments that everyone in our community can be proud of.

Student academic achievement has grown with our graduation rate once again increasing to 87.8% and we were one of only two districts in Riverside County to achieve an impressive 4% growth in math CAASPP scores. Project Moving Forward was awarded a prestigious Golden Bell from the California School Boards Association and a Models of Academic Excellence and Innovation award from the Riverside County Office of Education. Our commitment to graduating college and/or career ready students was also recognized by RCOE’s Models of Excellence for the ASTERISK internship program.

On a national and even international level, our schools are standing out. Vista del Lago, Canyon Springs and Valley View High Schools were named to the U.S. News and World Report Best High School list and a group of Valley View High School students watched their science project launch to the International Space Station.

We could not accomplish all of this without investing in world-class facilities. Last year we opened stunningly beautiful buildings at Moreno Valley High School, Edgemont Elementary School and an amazing athletic complex at Canyon Springs High School.

I hope you’ll take the time to get to know the teachers, administration and classified staff at your child’s school site. Your school’s principal and staff members are ready to welcome you as a valued partner in your child’s education. They are committed to providing the best learning environment for all students and will be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have. Together we will make a difference in the life of each student in our district.

I am here to serve you, and I welcome your ideas, questions and feedback – please feel free to contact me at mkedziora@mvusd.net. And if you see me in the community or at your child’s school, please say hello. Again, welcome to a new year here at MVUSD, where each student is Shining Brighter with Excellence on Purpose.

Sincerely,

Martinrex Kedziora, Ed.D.
