Two Moreno Valley students appearing in PBS series, “Celebration of Music”

Armada Elementary School third grader Kiera Esquivel and Vista Heights Middle School eighth grader Isabella Rodriguez have been selected to appear in the PBS series “Celebration of Music.” The students were selected to appear on the show out of more than 1000 entries.

The show airs on KVCR (Channel 24 on most providers) Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Isabella’s segment will air on Wednesday, January 24. No date was available yet for Kiera’s segment.

Both Isabella and Kiera filmed segments late last year with Ethan Bortnick, a teen music sensation. Each segment features an interview and performance.

“One of the things (Isabella) has wanted to do was be on TV,” said Isabella’s mother Autumn Earle-Rodriguez, who is also a MVUSD drama teacher, “For me it was awesome we were able to make some of her dreams come true.”

“I’m excited for her,” Kiera’s mother Kaila Bernas said, “She tells everyone ‘I’m going to be on TV.’ It’s been a great experience.”

The show is a talent search style series, and will conclude with a live performance on March 10 at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside. Each participant will appear on stage at the finale concert. A winner will be selected based on votes and the winner will perform a solo piece with Ethan Bortnick and his band at the finale concert.
