The Head Start/Preschool Program is funded by federal and state funds and serves children from low-income families.  Students are given an opportunity to acquire socical and academic readiness skills for successful transition into kindergarten.  Families must qualify for low-income status as defined by federal and state guidelines, and students must be 3 or 4 years old by December 2 of the school year.  Students attend either partday (3 1/2 hours) or extended day (6 1/2 hours) classes. They participate in curriculum activities designed to promote the development of early literacy, numeracy, social and physical skills.

Parents are encouraged to participate in training sessions and to be involved with their children in a variety of educational experiences.  There is no charge for enrolled families.
