The Secondary Education Department is in charge of and monitors:
  • All secondary level Subject Advisory Councils
  • All secondary level textbook adoptions, including piloting and teacher implementation training
  • The implementation of core academic programs including strategic and intensive intervention programs at the secondary level
  • The annual revision, publication, and distribution of Pacing Guides for English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Science at the secondary level
  • The process to recommend new courses and programs
  • Career Technical Education, including ACCESS to the Future; the California Partnership Academies at Canyon Springs and Valley View High Schools; and Pathways at Vista del Lago High School
  • Grants in partnership with RCC, Moreno Valley campus
  • The Carl Perkins grants at Canyon Springs, Moreno Valley, and Valley View High Schools
  • ROP offerings at secondary schools
  • Liaison with RCC, Moreno Valley campus, for districtwide Middle College Program.
  • Summer School and Intervention Academy programs at the secondary level
  • The district secondary athletic programs and liaison with the California Interscholastic Federation
